About the show

Ghost stories, after dark

Trick or Treating After Dark is a spooky-fun storytelling channel for all ages. Morty and Hazel host from a creaky old parlor, Bones hides behind the desk, and Pip reports from the places nobody else wants to visit. Every hour a brand-new ghost story joins the live channel, and every night there is a longer episode about one real haunted place somewhere in the world.

How it's made

The hourly ghost stories are made up, just for fun: the towns, people and spirits in them are invented. The nightly episodes are about real places, and they are researched: each episode page links the pages its history and legends came from, and a person reviews and approves every nightly episode before it airs. Legends are told as legends, not as proof that anything is haunted.

The live channel

The live channel plays every story from the last day on one shared schedule, so everyone watching sees the same thing at the same moment. Each one plays once, in order, before the list starts again, and a brand-new story always jumps near the front. The watching count is the real number of open live players, nothing more. There is no chat, no ads and no analytics scripts.

The hosts

Mortimer "Morty" Mistwell

Storyteller · Host

A friendly Victorian ghost who has been telling stories by candlelight for about a hundred and fifty years. He insists every tale is "absolutely true, more or less."

Hazel Hollowbrook

Haunt Historian · Host

A young witch and the show’s haunt historian. She digs through old newspapers, maps and records so the real places on the show come with real history.

The desk

Every episode pairs an anchor with a second voice, picked per story: the other anchor or one of the regulars on the desk.

Bartholomew "Bones" McGee

Professional Scaredy-Cat

A skeleton who is, somehow, scared of everything. He hides behind the desk during the good parts and always asks the question the audience is thinking.

Pip Pumpkinpatch

Field Reporter

The show’s jack-o’-lantern field reporter. Pip goes to the creaky places so nobody else has to, and glows a little brighter whenever something goes bump.
